An offer of 1200 guineas, on the part of an Indian buyer, was refused for the racehorse Conge d'Eslire. ETHNOLOGY. EXPEDITIONS FOR WESTERN AUSTRALIA. By Telegriph.— Pren Association.— Copyright. FREMANTLE, Bth May. Advices by the English mail state that the Cambridge ethnological expedition will arrive in Western Australia next month under the leadership of Professor Brown, entomologist. Mr. Grant Watson is geologist. Western Australia was chosen as the scents of operations as being tho least known part of the Australian Continent. A second expedition sent by the Stockholm Academy of Science, under Dr. Majoberg, will arrive in July. Dr. Majobarg will spend two years in the Kimberley district, the object being to solve animal a-nd geographical questions, and to ascertain to what extent immigration has taken place from the Malay Islands and its influence on the flora and fauna. SIDE OF A BUILDING BLOWN OUT EXPLOSION IN AN AMERICAN TOWN. Bj Telegraph.— Press Association.— Copyright. NEW YORK, 18th May. By the explosion at the American Sheet Tin-Plate Company's works at Canton, Ohio, which resulted in loss of : life, the whole side of a building was blown out, and some men were imprisoned beneath fallen beams. Rescue parties hurried to the spot. Some debris was afire, but the flames were extinguished before they reached the men under the beams. TAILOR-MADE COSTUMES. New sea Eon's goods, just arrived.
