GARRISON OFFICERS' CLUB.

♦ , A SERIES OF LECTURES. The syllabus of lectnres for the ensuing session of the Wellington Garrison Officers' Club has been drawn up for the first half of the period. Each evening is to be subdivided — a short narrative on the subject of some battle, followed by the principal lecture. The calendar is as follow : — 23rd May.— (l) Battle subject. Lieu-tenant-Colonel A. Banchop, C.M.G. ; (2) "Organisation 1 of the Territorial Force," Captain G. S. Richardson, Chief Instructor of Artillery. 2nd June. — (1) Battle subject, Captain R. O. Chesney; (2) "The Fixed Coast Defences at Wellington, and their working in war," Lieutenant-Colonel G. F. C. Campbell, V.D. 10th June. — Club social. 16th June. — (1) Battle subject, Major C. D. Mackintosh ; (2) medical lectures, "Health of Troops in the Field," Sur-geon-Major C. Mackie Begg, and Surgeon Captain Napier M'Lean. 29th June. — (1) Battle subject, Captain G. T. Hall; (2) "Higher Musketry,' 1 Major Mathieson ("Ballistics"), Lieutenant Simeon ("Rifles in Use"), and Lieutenant Roache ("Practical Musketry"). On the Bth July a club social \vill be held. Major Mackintosh and Captain Hall were appointed a sub-committee to arrange details, in connection with socials. Arrangements for the garrison officers,' ball were referred to a general meeting for reconsideration.
