YELLOW DOG CLUB.

BAND OF CONFESSED FAILURES. As a counterblast to the Blue Bird Club, formed by the elect of London's literary and artistic womanhood, whose members are bound together by many secret rites and ceremonies, comes the Yellow Dog Club (\\-rites a correspondent to an American journal). The Yellow Dog Club is for men only, but each member must be a failure — a man whom nobody loves, and consequently one who sees the hollowness and emptiness of both the social and the business worlds. "We have no secrets — nothing whatever to conceal," said the acting chairman, "and the title of the club should not fail to suggest the qualifications necessary for membership. "Everybody knows what an unfortunate dog the yellow dog is. Horses always kick him. He always strays on the racecourse at the wrong time ana gets stoned by the people and chased by the police. Other dogs snarl at him and despise him ; yet he is the best- tempered, most faithful and lovable of all dogs if shown the least human sympathy. "What the yellow dogs are to tht» canine -world the members of the Yellow Dog Club will be to the great numan world. Candidates for membership must prove -that they are failures, but also that they have not lost their cheerfulness. "We do not propose to have any club dinners or hold any functions except weekly meetings to discuss the affairs of the club. "On the other hand, we expect to be invited to dinner, either singly, in batches, or all together, by the more successful people of life. This may seem an extravagant expectation, but on consideration it must be clear that the failure in life is the most pleasant of companions. He has none of the haughty overbearing manners of the successful man of affairs nor of that indescribable conceit which marks the head of the house or the proud father of a family. "The Yellow Dog Club hopes to 'become one of the most successful 'diningout clubs' in London."
