WOOL SALES.
EXTRA EDITION.
The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Ltd., have received the following cablegram from their London house, under date 12th inst. :—: — "The sales closed strong. During the series 146,000 bales were sold, of which 54,000 bales -were taken for the Continent and 4000 for America ; 26,000 bales being held over. As compared with last sales' closing rates, prices arc lower about par to 5 per cent for medium and fine greasy crossbreds. The limit for for the fourth series, commencing on 12th July next, has been fixed at 160,000 bales. '"

Lord Gladstone (first Governor-Gen-eral of South Africa) and Lady Gladstone will receive a public welcome at Capetown on some date after the 20th inst. The Natal Government favours urging the King 10 appoint Lord Rosebery to open the Union Parliament if the Duke of Connaught is unable to do so.
