[?x telegraph — phess association.) HASTINGS, 11th May. Mr. M'Carthy, the coroner, conducted an inquest this afternoon inio the death of a Maori named W. Robin. He found that deceased met his death consequent on injuries recerwed whilst riding a motor-cycle on. the Heretaunga-road on 7th May, which cycle collided with a spring cart. The -coroner further found that the collision happened at 7 p.m., and tho cycle had no lights, and was travelling al a rate" of not less than twenty miles an hour, de'eeased. being at the time under the influence of liquor. Mr. M'Carthy added another finding that" disregard of the ' .law by persona driving) all manner of vehicles in Hastings and the vicinity was a serious menace to those using the highway, and called for increased vigilance by the police. GREYMOUTH, 11th May. A very sad death occurred at Runanga State mine yesterday, when Mrs. Brown (nee Heron) died in a fit. Deceased was only married on Saturday last, and was a native of Greymouth. She was well known and highly respected. A man named Frank Wordsley was ' killed by a train on Tuesday evening at Kamata, between Reefton and Greymouth. His body was discovered this morning. An inquest will be held today. The inquest on Charles Beemer occupied the court all day. At the conclusion of the evidence the jury desired to visit the scene of the accident, and the enquiry was adjourned till the 17th to enable them -to do so. Whilst playing hockey yesterday 'afternoon a young married man namsd Arthur Needham, residing at Northland, fell and sustained rather severe injuries. He was admitted to the hospital.
