Following is an extract from a letter lately received by the local lion, secretary of tho Navy League, from Lieut. Knox : "I recently paid my third visit to Rosyth, and went all over tho site of tho new Naval base, first mentioned in April, 1903. The contract was given out iv 1909, and it will bo completed in 1916. With what marvellous rapidity we work hero! 'Ihe new baEe, when completed, will have a submarine harbour, and a basin of 60 acres in which many warships will bo able to lie ; it iviJl contain ono Dreadnought graving dock. Tho entrance lock will be capable of docking a Dreadnought, and when so used the emergency exit and entranco will be used." A correspondent, writing in reference to tho Henry-Potts mission, suggests that it would be appreciated by many of those who attend the meetings if the song-services were prolonged fiom half an hour to an hour. The project to form a Hutt Valley Golf Club, having its headquarters on tho Hutt Park, «s now well under way. At a preliminary meeting, held at Potone last evening, tho names of a number of prospective players, including a fair sparkling of Wellington enthusiasts, were submitted to the meeting. Mr. It. C. Kirk presided. Another meeting is to be- held shortly at Lower Hutt, when it is hoped to plato the matter on a definite footing. The grounds have already been secured for the season.
