I The passengers refuse to resume ttheir voyage on the steamer Cairnrona, on I whiek aui explosion recently occurred, I and are returning to Rotterdam, thence 'transhipping to steamers bound for tho United Slates. The Cairnrona, a Newcastle liner, waa bound to America with 900 Russians and Armenians aboard. When off Beachy Head (on the coast of Sussex) it was discovered that the coal bunkers were on fire. An explosion blew a hatch to pieces, injuring twenty persons. A fianicf followed. Many men attempted to rush] the women's boais, and in the struggle! a woman's spine was broken. The British crew, however, using determined! j measures, prevented a disaster. The( sailors knocked men down right and left. Four of the passengers jumped! overboard, but were rescued. Finally alt those on. board were transferred fto others steamers, whien carried them to safety.
