HIGHLAND RIFLES.

The adjourned annual meeting of tha •Wellington Highland Rifles was held last evening, Captain M'Diarmid presiding. The annual report stated that the corps had capitated to the maximum grant. Mention was made of the large: muster* which had been present at the weekly parades. During lh» year the late captain of the corps, Major Mackintosh, ■wt* presented with the- 21 years' *ervie» medal, while Captain M'Diarmid had received the 12 years' service medal. Th« shooting committee's report stated' that the attendance at *&c range had not been satisfactory, notwithstanding the inducement* offered in the way of trophies. The thanks of the company were due to the following for donating trophies : — Chaplain-Major Shirer, . Me*sr» J. L. Turner, W. H. Tisdall, and the officers of the corps. The committee recommended that service matches be. placed on the company's next year's programme. The financial statement, showed a credit of £44. The reports ■nd balance-sheets were adopted. Major Mackintosh was elected senior life honorary member of the. company. Lieutenant Willis ww handed his captain's certificate, and Lance-Corporal Sinclair was elected storekeeper for th« ensuing year. The secretary (Corporal Shannon) to re-elected, and wo wa» th© shooting wcrttnTy (Sergeant Debson). Corporal Ritchie was awarded the sold medal given by the Palmerston North Naval and Military Tournament Committee for being the riiost efficient volunteer in the corps last year.
