There may also be trouble with the House of Representatives. The project in almost 'hopeles*, except for the fact that the Republicans may well be anxious to get credit for making a breach in an unpopular tariff will!, while Sir Wilfrid Laurier and Mr. Fielding (Canadian Finance Minister) must be congratulated. Great credit attaches to President Taft, for his diplomacy, alone laved American, and to a lees extent Canadian, commerce from a severe blow, and the Republicans from a serious blunder.
