The weather this morning wa* *>ho\very, but cleared up lator, and the afternoon was fine for the second day's racing o"f the Australian Jockey Club's" autumn meeting. Balance of results : — Sydney Cup, a sweepstake oi 20 eovs each, with 3000 *ovs added ; two miles. Vavasor, 7.9 (M'Lachland) 1 Daisy Chain, 7.2 (Smith) '2 Jinnee, 6.10 (Brown) 3 Scratched— Bluo Book and Flavinius. The first to show out were Beau Vive, Black Range, and Kerlic. The lastnamed went to tho front before the Ktraight was reached, Maltine moving into second place. Kerlie showed the way into the straight, the nearest attendants being Beau Vive, Maltine, and Trafalgar. Passing the *tand Kerlie still led from Beau Vivo and Maltine, with Downfall last. At the mite and aquarter the order was Kerlie, Beau Vive, Maltine, Oliva&ter, Hoax, Daisy Chain, and Downfall. There was little change along the back, and Kerlic passed the six furlong post clear of Beau Vive, who was followed by Black Range, Olivaster, and Maltine. Before reaching tho five furlong post Kerlie gave place to Black Range, who had Olivastcr as nearest attendant, with Maltine, Kerh'e, and Trafalgar at the head of the others. Olivaster moved to the front at the half-mile peg, Vavasor, who had been gradually improving his position, lying second, with Daisy Chain and Maltine handy. Olivaster wnt first into the straight, from Daisy Chain, Jinnee, and Vavasor. Once fairly on the way horn», Vava«or came through, and won by two lengths, a similar distance separating second and third. Then came Didus, Danilo, Ungarie, Barallan, and Beau Vive, while Downfall finished in the ruck. Time, 3min 29£ sec. , First Steeplechase ; about two miles. — Kiatere, 11.4, 1; Bullworth, 9.9, 2; Kuala Lumpur, 12.7, 3. Won by ten lengths. Time, smin 34J«ec. I'irst Nursery Handicap, of one mile. — Cadoniu 1, Moorilla 2, Pendulous 3. Time, lmin 42Jhcc. Total Handicap; ono mile and aquarter. — Safrano, 6.7, 1 ; Pretty Peg, 7.11, 2, Baw Bee, 7.6, 3. Heads separated first and second, with Bow Bee a nock away. Time, 2niin 10t-cc.
