BOXING.
♦ WELLINGTON ASSOCIATION. . A meeting of the committso of the Wellington Boxing Association was held last night, Mr. R. W. M'Villy presiding- An invitation to hold a boxing competition at Wonderk'nd was declined. In answer to questions by the New Zealand Boxing Council, it was decided to rocominond that the minimum subscription for associations affiliated to the council be £5 as at present ; and that the maximum bantam-weight be*reduied from Bst 41b to Bst 21b, the limit accepted for Australasian championships. It was decided to nominate the present council officers and committee for a further term. It was decided to oppose the proposed alteration in the rules with repaid to professional contests, the committee being of opinion that each association must be permitted to administer its own affairs in so far ns the engagement of competitors is concerned. A circular wos received asking for subscriptions to the English Fresh Air Fund. The committee expressed the opinion that there is a considerable amount 6V distress in tho Dominion that would warrant attention being devoted to it by the council and affiliated bodies, and that it would gladly co-operate with the council in relieving the 6amc ; at the same tim*i it contributed £1 Is to tho fund.
