PREVENTION OF CRUELTY.
The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals held its fortnightly meeting in the Chamber of Commerce last «vening. Mr. J. S. Jameson occupied the chair. Subscriptions, totalling £6 7s 3d, were acknowledged from the following: — Messrs. A. D. Crawford and T. M. Wilford, £1 Is; W. AViggins and Magnus Sanderson and Co., 10b bd ; Mrs. Young, "Two Friends," Rev. D. C. Bfctes, Messrs. H. Cook, Griffiths and Co., Townsend and Paul, Wcatport Coal Company, and Biilish Kmpiro Trading Company, ss ; M«s6i-?. E. Ti'pgenr, C Haynes, R. C. Brion, W. Mansfield, snd "Tv.o Friends," 2s 6d; "Frientl," 2« 3d , Mr. King, 2s. The inspector, Mr. Seed, leported several casrs of alleged rriirlty to animals, mostly hors-ss, and they are all receiving his attention.
