PERSONAL MATTERS.
Rev. W. Raine (Masterton) and Rev. W. G. Kendrkk, Palmerston North, will be admitted to priest's orders by Bishop Wallis at St. Paul fs pro-Cathedral, tomorrow morning. Another old identity (Mr. James Shanks) died at Port Chalmers yesterday. He came to Otago in the latter fifties. The deceased and his wife oelebrated their golden wedding last June. Air. D. Ritchie, of Riddiford-slreet, who has not been enjoying the best of health, has been advised to take a rest from business. He is leaving for Auckland and Rotorua, and will be away for about four weeks. Father O'Bierne, who has recently been transferred to the New Plymouth parish, has been presented with a purse of 60 sovereigns, and an appreciative address by the parishioners of St. Patrick's and St. Columba'B churches (states our Palmerston correspondent). There will be an election for the position of chairman of the newly created Dunedin Charitable Aid and Hospital Board. The candidates will be Messts. J. H. Walker (chairman of the old board) and J. Loudon (vicechairman of the Hospital Trustees). Mr. R. K. Couper, who for eeveral years has acted as honorary secretary to the Wellington Navals' Association, announced his intention at last night's meeting of resigning the position owing to pressure of other work. Members spoke highly of his services, and asked him to continue in the position, and Mr. Couper finally agreed. He was voted an honorarium of £5 ss, in accordance with the practice of previous years. In memory of the late Mr. C. A. Redgrave, who was so strongly interested in Bible-class work, a brass tablet will be placed in St. John's classroom, with an enlarged photograph of the deceased. Any surplus of funds raised for (he memorial purpose will be utilised in providing an annual prize of library books to classes affiliated with the Presbyterian Young Men's Bible Class Union that show the greatest proportionate increase in membership for the year. The committee in charge of the arrangements is as follows : —Messrs. G. A. Troup, A. Mackenzie, A. H. Hollis, C. Falconer, N. M'Farlane, C. T. Andrew, and J. S. Butler.
