LAWSUIT OVER A FIERY DOG.

GISBORNE, 17th March. The Supreme Court to-day was occupied with hearing a claim Field v. Thompson for £175 damages alleged to have been sustained by the attack of defendant's dog on plaintiff's daughter. The defendant sought to show that the plaintiff's children had encouraged the dog to stay at their home, and had also provoked the animal. Considerable evidence was advanced showing the fiery disposition of the dog, and the jury awarded planntiff £60 damages, the defendant also being called upon to pay £9 medical expenses and court costs.
