DESTROYED BY FIRE.

[BY TELEGRAPH— PRCS3 ASSOCIATION.] ' HASTINGS, This Day. A thirteen-roomed house, owned and occupied by Mrs. E. Bainforth, was totally destroyed by fire yesterday after noon. The cause of the outbreak is unknown. Mrs. Bamforth was absent in Wellington, and the remainder of the family were away at the time of the outbreak. A quantity of furniture was saved. The insurances are :— Building, £250 in the National; furniture, £200 in the Alliance. Masterton Hack Handicap — First Battery, 1 ; Afterthought. 2 ; First Consul, 5. Seven starters. Time, lmin 44sec.
