A native named Kanare and six others have been committed for trial, in connection with the murder of Mr. A. Jackson at Kasik, in the Bombay Presidency. Mr. Jackson, Collector of Nasik, who was an eminent Sanskrit and Maratbi scholar, wa6 shot dead in December last by a native from Aurungabad, ia Central India. The murderer alleged that Mr. Jackson sentenced Savarkar, » Brahmin, for sedition. The sentence, however, was not passed by Mr. Jack* son, but by the Sessions Judge. Sixteen arrests were made, including Savarkar's brother (wiho was a law student at Bombay), and Orso, a native banker of Yeola (a town in the Nasik district, 58 miles from Aurungabad). The banker was charged witb financing a Deccan conspiracy. A mass of incriminating documents and enough pistols and ammunition to exterminate the English, population of the district have been seized.
