REFORM CANDIDATE ELECTED MAYOR. ALDERMEN DEFEATED FOR BOARD OF CONTROL. By Telegraph.— Press Association.— Copyright. (Received February 4, 11.15 a.m.) OTTAWA, 3rd February. Mr. Guerin, the reform candidate for the Montreal Mayoralty, has been elected by 10,000 majority. Out of twenty-three aldermen mentioned in Mr. Justice Camion's report revealing civic corruption, twenty-two were defeated in the election for the Board of Control. Mr. Justice Cannon, who was lately appointed to investigate the civic affairs of the city of lUontreal, found that it was simpjy saturated with corruption and soaked in patronage. The Judge declared that 25 per cent, of the civic revenue had been sunk in bribes. He recommended the prosecution of eight aldermen and several officials.
