Mr. James Ferkins, who had been a resident of the Wellington district for23 years, died at Petone last night. The deceased was 61 years of age, and was boivn in Birmingham, England, wfeer-e he was bought up as a jeweller, a trade which he followed until he camo out to Wellington with his wife and two sons (Messrs. W. J. Ferkins and F. Perkins). For the past 20 years he had been an invalid. A year or two ago the deceased went to live at Petone. He is survived by Mrs. Ferkins and one son (Mr. W. J. Ferkins), a builder. A receiving house iri^ connection with the T&uranga. branch of the Bank of Australasia is now open at Te Puke on Wednesdays. Creditors in the estate of W. Dimdore are requested to send in all claims before •15th February. Under the auspices of ths Frrendly Societies' Council, Mr. Hobart will deliver an address at the Oddfellows' Hall on Friday evening next on "Co-onerathe Banking as applied to Friendly Societies." A farm property of 200 acres, situated at Taylor's Pass, about three miles southward from Blenheim, and held on lease- I in-perpetuity, was sold at auction yesterday by Messrs. T. K.
