Brigands attacked the Convent of Bocairente, in the province of Valencia, Spain, for the purpose of despoiling the historic church. The nuns barricaded the windows and doors, and armed themselves with pistols and guns, until a guard rescued them. Five of the brigands were killed or wounded, and three of the nuns were injured.
