OPERA HOUSE. Carter's second .performance at the Opera House last evening was witnessed by an audience that applauded most j heartily when 'it was most mystified. Much of the "magicians" business is new; some- of it is not wholly original, but all of it is good. The best item on the programme is probably "Levitation" — where a young lady is suspended in mid-air. Mr. Carterjs business is clean to an artistic degree, and he invariably succeeds in, completely mystifying his audience. Another performance will be given this evening. THEATRE ROYAL. There is not one dull moment through out the whole performance at the Theatre Royal this week. Last night the theatre was well filled and every item was enthusiastically received. The most popular contributors are perhaps the "National Duo," the Duckworths, and Armstrong and Verne. All the other items were fully appreciated. The programme will be repeated to-night. ROYAL PICTURES. The Royal Picture Syndicate will give a special Anniversary Day exhibition at the Town Hall on Saturday. A programme has been prepared which will include many novel features. A full orchestra has been engaged, and bright and popular pieces will be played during the evening. The pictures shown at His Majesty's Theatre last evening attracted a large attendance. The programme ,of the week, which ha 6 been most popular, will be entirely changed this eyening. The new films will include — i "Muggins, V.C.,"- a dramatic sitory, the action of which, takes place in, India ; "The Diver'-s Remorse," a deep-sea novelty showing scenes at the bottom of the sea, in which deep-6ea divers are employed; "Too Many for the Jobj" "What's your Hurry?" "The Gibson Goddess;'" "Sooty "Sketches," showing sideway disappearances and transformations of a nov^l character; and in "Old Rover*," a scenic of great beauty. STAR PICTURES, -sitors to the Star Picture entertainment at St. Thomas's Hall, Newtown, find plenty to please them in the way of variety. The programme is much diversified and exceedingly well arranged — comedy and tragedy, pathos and humour are conspicuous features in the entertainment, and in between pictures of a high educational value are'"judiciously sandwiched, ,the whole forming a most enjoyable entertainment. PICTURES AT DAY'S BAI. The Electric Motorscope Picture Company wili give another of their picture entertainments in the pavilion at Day's Day to-night. It is stated- that an entire change of programme has been arranged, consisting of pictures entirely new to Wellington. New songs will be song by Mr. E. Wiseman. Judging hy the success of last week's show, intend ing patrons should procure their seats 1 early. The Duchess is timed to leave the Ferry Wharf at 7.45, returning from the Bay at the conclusion of the entertainment. Mr. Charles M. Berkeley, touring manager for Mr. J. C. Williamson's New I Comic Opera Company, arrived in town to-day to make arrangements for the appearance of this important musical organisation on Saturday week, in " The King of Cadonia."
