Our London correspondent writes under date 10th December : — "During the week the Right Hon. Mr. M'Eenna, First Lord of the Admiralty, paid a visit to Folkestone for the purpose of interviewing Mr. Hall-Jones, the High Commissioner, and discussing the arrangements for the building of the New Zealand Dreadnought. The interview was, of course of a confidential nature. The order for the battleship will probably be given out . by the Admiralty in the ordinary way, after obtaining the cabled sanction of the New Zealand Government to the figure stated." The Wellington Chemists' Association decided to celebrate 'Anniversary Day on Monday, but found that if it closed .then it wonld also have to shut up the shops on the foHowing Wednesday afternoon — aa Monday hai not been proclaimed a holiday. Some of the members do not feel inclined to close down for a day and a half next week, and think that the association should observe the holiday on Saturday. The association will UlflcuM the new phaeo of the position to-night.
