TORN BY SHARKS.
DANGER OF SURF BATHING. SENSATIONAL INCIDENT AT NEWCASTLE. By Teleeraph.— Press Association. -Copyright. (Received January 17, 10.35 a.m.) SYDNEY, This Day. A man named Lyons was drowned while surf -bathing at Newcastle. Two other bathers had a narrow escape, but were rescued by the Surf Club. Shortly afterwards sharks tore Lyons's body to pieces in view of a crowd watching on the shore.
