HUGE DINNER PARTY.
I FIFTEEN HUNDRED GUESTS. To cater for 1500 guests is no slight test of a caterer's quality. The task, however, has been undertaken by Messrs. Lyons and Co., and that 6O far away from their base at Swansea. The occasion is the luncheon that is to follow tho opening of the new dock at Swansea on Tuesday next (announced the Chronicle of 20th November), when a special train, carrying a staff of over 400 waiters, cooks, etc.. is to be run from London to eerve the feast. The magnitude of this-eulinai'y campaign may be gauged by some of the figures: 2600 knives, forks,, and spoons; 16,500 plates, SGOO glasses, j 2250 silver dishes, 85 soup tureens, 80 cases of wine t 75 boxes of cigars, 350 lobbters, 330 coles, 250 pbreasants, 95 pairs of best ends of lamb, 250 Surrey fowls, 32 York hams, 75 tongues, 1101b pressed ■beef, 510 dishes of jellies, creams, etc., "2cwt. Muscat grapes, 2800 apples, banana^ ' and pears, and 240 dozen blooms of' chrysanthemums.
