TWO MARLBOROUGH FATALITIES.

The police have received advice from Blenheim that Arthur William Tolhurst, 23 years of age, was drowned in the Opawa River yesterday afternoon, while bathing. Deceased is a native of New South Wales, and was employed as a shepherd. The body was recovered. From Blenheim also comes word that Clifford Graham M'Nab, threo years of age, died suddenly on Saturday at his parents' residence at Flaxbourne. Inquests aro being held in both cases. Yesterday Captain G. C . Smith, naval registrar at Wellington, received telegraphic advice from Corniander Blunt, to the effect that the original programme of movements for the thirdclass cruiser Pioneer had been cancelled, and instead of proceeding to the West Coast the vessel will remain in the vicinity of Stewart Island till the 16th inst. 'She will then leave for Dunedin to drill naval reservists at that port. To-morrow night, at the Vivian-street Baptist Church, the Rev. J. J. North will repeat, by request, his lantern lecture on "Jerusalem," from the cave dwellers to the railway. The lecture will bo illustrated by eighty pictures — Ancient Greek, Roman, New Testament, Crusader, and Modern. Miss Ellis will sing, "Oh thou that killcst the Prophets;' 1 Mr. Pargettmwill sing, "Arm, Arm, Ye Brave." Messrs. A. L.
