Mr. J. A. Bond, an Auckland artist, who has toured through the central districts of the North Island on a painting tour, has. reached Wellington, and will remain here for a week or more, with the intention of painting local scenes. During his stay on the Wanganui River he painted the famous drop-scene reach of the Tiver. Mr. Bond has thoughts of making the Wairarapa district his headquarters for some time to come. The election of six trustees to the Wellington Hospital Board by the Ideal contributing authorities takes place at noon on Monday next, at the Town Hall. Dr. Valintine, Inspector-General of Hospitals Depax'tment, has advised the secretary of the Wellington Hospital Trustees (Mr. J. Coyle) that an Order-in-Council has been executed by His Excellency the Governor, providing for the omission in the Consolidated Act, 1908. The Order-in- Council provides that each local authority shall have one vote, and in addition one vote for every 4000 inhabitants in addition to the first 4000. The trustees to be elected on Monday hold office until Ist April, when the new Hospitals Bill which has just passed the third reading in the Legislative Council, comes into force. The retiring trustees, who are all eligible for re-election, are Messrs R. C. Kirk, G. Nash, G. London, J. Rod, J. W. M'Ewan, and Agmen Smith. "We are in the happy position of being able to sjvy that there are no empty hoHses in Auckland," remarked the Deputy-Mayor at last meeting of the Auckland City Council.
