Mrs. Robertson, wife of Mr. George Robertson, District Manager of the Government Life Insurance Department and mother of Mr. R. T. Robertson' Italian Consul in Wellington, died at 11 o clock this morning. The deceased lady, who was must esteemed for her good qualities, had been ill for some time, and last week she underwent an operation at a private hospital. She has left a grown-up family of three sods and one daughter. As a mark of respect the flag above the Government Insurance Department's building is at halfmast this afternoon. Thirty newcomers from the British Isles arrived from Liverpool via Sydney and Auckland by the steamer Sussex this morning. About a dozen wtjre booked for Wellington, and the rest •are proceeding to Lyttelton and Dunedin. The steamer had a most tempestuous passage to Australia, and fhe experience is not likely to be scon forgotten by her passengers. The/ are reported to have endured the tr/ingf conditions with great courage. A six-roomed house on ihe South Karori-road was burnt to the ground on Friday morning. It was ofcupied by Mr. G. Andrews.
