Medical aid was obtained by the police to-day for a woman named Mary Dowsett, residing in Tinakori-road, who is alleged to be suffering from two knife wounds on 0110 of her legs. A man named David Bates has been arrested by Constable Stevens on a charge of assaulting the womah. The Torchon Lace Co., -Melbourne, adverribe particulars of their lacemaking machine, which they supply freo to makers of torchon lace. Tho ferry steamers will run excursions to Day's Bay to-morrow morning and afternoon at tho usual hours. The Cobar will run a special trip to the bay at 7.30 p.m. in connection with tho skating rink. Messrs. T.
