MUNICIPAL ABATTOIRS.
TO THE EDITOE. Sir, — I desire to call attention lo what is a great hardship imposed on the small farmer and retail butoher by the bylaw relating to the killing ot pigs and calves. In the country many farmers have two or three pigs or calves. If they are compelled to send them into the abattoirs it will moan nn increase of 2d a pound on tho cost of veal and pork. I would suggest they be allowed to kill them as in the past, leaving the plucks intact. A small depot could be established at tho two town stations, and twice a week, say Tuesdays and Fridays, an inspector could inspect tho carcases and stamp them. The retailers oould tako delivery from the station, thui 6aving time and money.—l ami otc, > ' "J. PHILP.
