FOR LONDON AND ANTWERP. The steamer Clan Macfarlane, 4832 tons (Captain W. H. Price) which is under charter to Mr. G. H. Scales, is announced to load at New Zealand ports and sail about t4ie middle of January for London and Antwerp (without transhipment), calling at Dunkirk if sufficient inducement offers, and taking cargo for Yorkshire, Continental and American ports.A SUCCESSFUL TOW. Fine weather and moderate seas favoured the Terawhiti, with the damaged steamer Taviuni in tow, from Westport to Banks Peninsula. A somewhat heavy swell was then encountered, and the weather became foggy. These conditions lasted till arrival off the Otago Heads at 3 a.m. on ' Wednesday, when extra tugs ■went out and helped to manoeuvre the Taviuni into a berth. The trip was devoid of incident or mishap of any kind save for the towline parting once where the tug's hawser was shackled to the steamer's cable. This caused about an hour's delay after passing Cape Campbell. Tlie tow was 530 miles. As the Taviuni was scaled and painted while on the "hard," her appearance is by no means suggestive of a wreck. A portion of the railing is damaged on one side, but the principal work will be the forging and fitting of a new stern frame. The machinery is intact, and the plates of the hull are undamaged. On the trip round the coast the vessel was steered by a wooden rudder, fitted to a sternpost of the same material. It is said that the Taviuni will probably not be put under repair for the present. THE STAR OF SCOTLAND. The Star of Scotland, which berthed yesterday afternoon at No. 2, Queen's Wharf, with London cargo, will leave for Wanganui roadstead on Monday afternoon. After that the steamer goes to Gisborue and Napier and back to Wellington to complete. She will get away for London via Las Palmas before Christmas. ONEHCNGA - NEW PLYMOUTH. Commencing on Wednesday, the 15th inst., the Northern Steam Ship Company will maintain a tri-weekly service between Ouehunga and New Plymouth. On the day mentioned a vessel will leave New Plymouth for Onehunga at 8.30 p.m., and thence sailings will take place on each subsequent Friday, Monday, and Wednesday. Tlie sailings from Onehunga will take place on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays, at 3 p.m. in each case. WAIPORI, FROM MELBOURNE. » Yesterday morning the cargo steamer Waipori reached the Bluff from Melbourne and Hobart, and she is due .at Dunedin to-mor-row. The vessel then proceeds to Timaru, Lyttelton, and Wellington, and is expected to reach here about Wednesday next. \ An excursion to Picton and back will be made by the turbine steamer Maori on Boxing Day. The Mararoa will make a similar trip on New Year's Day. The Monowai, leaving Wellington on Monday for Napier, Gisborne, and Auckland, will take cargo for East Coast bays, to connect with the Flora at Gisborne. The latter vessel is to convey a shipment of coal from Westport to Napier, proceeding thence to Gibborne, Uast Coast bays, and Auckland. At noon to-day the Tyser liner Indradevi was to leave Auckland for Wellington in continuation of her voyage from New York. The steamer should accordingly arrive on Sunday next, and she proceeds on Tuesday or Wednesday to Lytteiton and Dunedin. A strike is said to have Occurred among timber-stackeis at Melbourne, and in consequence of this the Lauderdale, with part cargo of timber from Hokianga, has been unable to effect t'ischarge. The strike started in the early part of this week. Yesterday Mr. V. Fania, engineer of the Kapuni, came ashore to join the Wairau. Mr. J. McLean has taken his place on the former vessel. Next week's steamer from Sydney will be the Marama. She arrived at Sydney from Vancouver on Tuesday, and sails to-morrow for Wellington. During tbe Bummer season the Marama will continue in the intercolonial running in place of the Moana. The cargo steamer Whangape is to leave Fiji to-morrow with a cargo of sugar for Sydney. The schooner Waratah, recently sold to Captain Skinner after having been laid up at Dunedin for some time, is to be fitted with an oil engine and put in the Auckland-East Coast Bays and Gisborne ttade. It is the intention of her new owners to change her name, but a choice has not yet been made.
