CANADIAN NAVY.

ITS STANDING IN AN IMPERIAL WAR. By Telegraph.— Press Aesociation.— Copyright. LONDON, 27th November. Commenting on a statement attributed to Sir Wilfrid Laurier, and published in the Citizen, of Ottawa "that the Canadian navy is not to participate in a war waged by Great Britain unless the Parliament of Canada sees fit," The Times says_ that such remarks might apply to every form of contribution or co-operation for defence. The willingness of the people and Parliament is essential (says the leading journal), but Canada and Australia are unlikely to fail in this direction. Still, there are many difficulties in the way, but goodwill and Imperial statesmanship are not to be baffled.
