MEAT INDUSTRY.
MEETING OF GISBORNE COMPANY. ' [BX TELEGRAPH — PKESS ASSOCIATION.] GISBORNE, This Day. At the annual meeting of the Gisborne Sheepfarmers' Frozen Meat Company, Mr. De Latour, the chairman, stated that combination among all the freezing companies should effecC beneficial results with regard to a fair regulation of freights and insurance, and, to someextent, the opening up of new markets and the regulation of those now available. Personally, he had no great faith in the possibility of regulating the London market, but agreed that much good could be done, by effective combined action at the port of arrival, to see the New Zealand farmer gets fair treatment and the English consumer gets what he wants # and pays for — New Zealand meat. He favoured immediate action by such companies as would work together. Probably three or /our such could be formed. The tax upon such companies to Keep a live agency in London would be amply repaid .by. direct and indirect gains to farmers.
