Archbishop Redwood is at present in Masterton. Sir George Clifford arrived from the Sooth to-day. Mr. W. F. Massey has left Wellington to be present at the Auckland show. Mr. Bernard Hale, of the Wellington branch of R. G. Dun and Co., was a passenger to Sydney last evening. j Mr. R. H. Hooper, formerly on the High Commissioner's staff, has been j transferred to the Industries Division of the Agricultural Department. ■ Bishop Wallis, who held confirmation services at Otaki yesterday, is at present in Wangamii. He will hold a confirmation in Wanganui to-morrow. -Messrs Mount fort (Christchurch) and (Petre (Dunedin), who were delegates to the annual meeting of the New Zealand Architects' ' Institute, returned to the South Island last night. Mr. John Fawcus, of the Amalgamated Society of Engineers (Auckland) is at present in Wellington. He will take ,the opportunity of interviewing union officials with reference to National Defence. Mr. James Dutton, an employee of the Wellington City Council, died suddenly from, heart failure last night at his residence in Oxford-street. Deceased had been ailing for some time past. He was fifty-nine years of age. Mr. George K. Williams, formerly of the Nelson branch of Sargood, Son, and Ewen, and a son of tie late Mr. Lloyd Williams, who was Wellington manager for Sargoods, has been appointed manager of the West Coast of the South Island branch. Mr. W. A. Walsh, of the Dominion newspaper reporting staff, who has joined the Napier Telegraph, was yesterday presented with a fountain pen by the Dominion staff through the editor, Mr. C. W. Earle. Mr. Stanley E. Wakelin, who was well and favourably known in Wairarapa (his birthplace) and in this city, died on Thursday last, at Seattle, U.S.A., •where he went about three months ago to undergo the fasting cure under the supervision of Dr. Linda Hazard. Mr. Wakelin was for several years connected with the Postal Department in Wellington. Miss Maud Rigg, M.A., M.Sc, Miss Mabel Salmond, 8.A., and Miss Elsie Johnston, 8.A., were yesterday appointed teachers to the Wellington Girls' College. All three ladies have distinguished themselves at New Zealand University Colleges. Miss Salmond is a, daughter of the Professor of that name. She graduated at Otago University. The other ladies took their degrees at Victoria College, Wellington.
