WELLINGTON BOXING ASSOCIATION.

AN ADMINISTRATION PROPOSAL. At last night's meeting of the Wellington. Boxing Association's Executive Committee, a letter was received from the Northern! Boxing Association explaining why Tracy, of Wellington, was engaged to box Hurcoinb without the formality of first consulting the Wellington Association being goso through, in terms of an existing agreement. Blsckmore had failed the Northern Association, Gault was unwell, and the necessity of engaging Tracy hurriedly prevented the Northern Association from approaching the Wollington one. The explanation was accepted as quite satisfactory. The New Zealand Council wrote asking for the Wellington Association's co-opera-tion in a prop"dsed deputation to the Government, to ask it to take steps to procure legal ' recognition for a governing body to be appointed by the various associations to control boxing generally and to issue all permits. It is proposed that only thoso bodies affiliated with the governing body shall be authorised to hold competition^, and thst there shall bo made a specific definition of tho powers of the police in regard to competitions. Last night's meeting discussed these proposals, but failed to agree with them. It was resolved that the Wellington. Association's Executive Committee was of the opinion the issue of permits should be in the hands of the police a 6 at present; that further legislation was not required, as regulations by the Gover-nor-in- Council would be preferable ; that the powers of tho police did not need further definition ; that the council be informed' that tho association considered that the resolutions passed by the conference of •1906 should be adhered to and regulations framed to give effect to them. Tho com. mittee considered that a deputation was not reqtrired, but if there was to be one, there should be a conference of delegates first. Tiio discussion regarding L. Porter'e tvdphy dispute with the Horowhenua Boxing Association is reported under a separate heading.
