GOVERNMENT BILLS. THE SESSION'S WORK. -PROGRAMME TO BE PASSED IN ITS ENTIRETY. A BIG TASK. 'A caucus of the Government Party was held to-day., and lasted for two hours and a-half ; and it is worthy of note that it terminated in a hearty round of applause, jvhicli was audible in the lobby. When the caucus terminated, Sir Joseph Ward courteously furnished the newspaper representatives wdth an official report, which plainly indicates that the •present session is"~destined to , rank as .# very important one. i - Sir Joseph Ward stated ' that 44 members were present, and ihat two aiiembers who were absent were accounted for. Wo recommended reassembling one month after the adjournment in the event of the important policy Bills now before the House not being passed before 22nd December." To this the caucus practically unanimously agieed. POLICY BILLS TO BE PASSED. "I stated," he continued, "that the policy Bills indicated in tht> Statement iVrere intended to be passed." The Bills are :— The State Guaranteed Advances Bill. '. Land Finance Settlement Bill. Death Puties. ; Graduated Income Tax Bill. - Bank Taxation, including notes. Racing Clubs Taxation. '.; Land Settlement, including money to bo raised for the purpose of acquiring Alaori lands in the North. Customs Primage. Defence Bill. - Land 'Bill. Native Land Bill. ' Licensing Bill. King Country Licensing Bill. Superannuation Bill. - Railway Betterment Bill. Hospital and Charitable Aid Bill. State Provident Fund (or annuities) ■Bill. "To ail of these," the Prime Minister added, "the party agreed." "In the event of the programme not being carried.out," Sir Joseph was asked, '"what is the position?" The reply was prompt. "We are to asse.mble by Ist February at latest."
