CLAIM AND COUNTER-CLAIM.
Mr. W. G. Riddell, S.M., to-day g;ave his decision in tho case Edward Ri'Ginty v. Granville Hunt, a claim for £10 3s, amount of a dishonoured cheque. Defendant counter-claimed for £8 17s Bd, vvhich ho alleged ho had overpaid plaintiff. Plaintiff was employed by defendant as ' a commercial traveller on commission, and received on account £44 10s in cash and a cheque for £10 3s, payment of which was stopped. After dealing with tho ovidenoo, the Magistrate remarked : "On the whole, I am satisfied that defendant has failed to establish his counter-claim, while I consider plaintiff is entitled to the £10 3s claimed." Judgment was entered accordingly, with cost's £4 Is. Mr. Dix appeared for plaintiff, and Mr. Brandon, jun., for detendant.
• An application from the congregation of the Kelburne charge for permission to borrow Certain moneys was received by the Wellington Presbytery at its meeting to-day, and was replied to as follows -.—"That the Presbytery approves of the proposal of the Kelburne congregation to borrow £700— £500 from the ■ Advances to Settlers Department, and £200 from the New Century Fund, if the Administrator of the latter agrees." The moneys are to be devoted to paying off the old loan of £600 previously received from the New Century Fund. The old man Frederick Hunt, who had been missing since Sunday from the Home for Aged Needy, was found in Thoindon yesterday evening. He had been wandering aimlessly round the streets.
