PARTY RESULTS. SOCIALIST CANDIDATES DEFEATED. By Telegraph. — Press Association. — Copyright. LONDON, 2nd November. Returns in the municipal elections are still incomplete, but so far results show that Liberals and Unionists in the provinces about held their own," whilst Socialist candidates suffered overwhelming defeat in many districts. THE CONTESTS IN LONDON. SUCCESS *OF THE REFORMERS. A BIG TURNOVER IN BATTERSEA (Received November 3, 8.45 a.m.) LONDON, 2nd November. ] In the London municipal elections the Progressives won sixteen seats at Camberwell, seven at Southwark, and seventeen at Hackney. ■ The Municipal Reformers gained twenty-eight seats at Battersea, and now hold fifty-two out of a total of fifty-four. The turnover is largely due to the defeat of Socialist candidates. The chief features of the London ! County Council election were the success of the Reformers at Battersea, where two Progressive Socialists were elected ; the loss of the Reformers' majority at Southwark ; and Lord Monkswell's defeat at Chelsea. Generally, the Reformers maintain the advantage gained at the last election. '
