HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES. The Hous-e met at 2.30 p.m. Petitions were presented in favour of the official recognition of the Engine drivers' Union and for the establishment of a syslem | of universal compulsory military training. Mr. Buchanan notified his intention of a iking the Ministei of Agriculture what steps he proposed to take to cope with the increase of rabbits in various parts of the Dominion. Notice 'was given by Mr. Wilford of intention to introduce the Hutt Valley Tramway District Amendment Bill and the Hutt Park Amendment Bill. Mr. E. H. Taylor was granted fourteen days' leave of absence on account of illness. Mr. G. M. Thomson was granted seven days' leave of absence on account of bereavement in his family, and Mr. F. La wry was granted seven days' leave on account of illness in his family. The Prime Minister said, in answer to Mr. Fisher, it was impossible to observe the King's ..Birthday on the Monday instead* of the Tuesday. He would have been pleased lo do so, but under the law it was impossible. He also said he proposed to deliver the Financial Statement on the evening of Wednesday of next week, as the House would not meet on the Tuesday. (Left sitting.)
