YACHTING.

Mr. John M'Lean presided at a general meeting} of the Port Nicholson Yacht Club, held in Armit's Rooms, when Mr. H. Barrett (secretary) submitted several draft-programmes for the coming season. On the 9th November (King's Birthday) a picnic is to be held at Somes Island in the afternoon. A sealed handicap for the trophy presented by the Port Nicholson Motor Boat Club, will be the first race of the season, and will take place on 13th November. The meeting resolved, on the motion of Mr. Highet, third-class yachts race round No. 1 course instead of round No. 3 as provided for in the programme.
