POWERS AND PORTE.
ADANA MASSACRES INDEMNITIES. By Telegraph.— Press Association.— Copyright. LONDON, 18th October. The conference between the Powers and the Porte continues in connection with the indemnities arising out of the Adana massacres. The Porte suggests that foreigu subjects sue in the ordinary courts. It is believed that the Powers will refuse to consent to an increase in Turkish Customs duties until the losses of their subjects are reimbursed. On tho 13th it was reported that the Porte had refused the demand of the Powers for compensation for losses arising out of the Adana massacres, alleging that the troubles constituted a case of force majeure.
