COMPENSATION COURT AWARD.

« An award was given by the Compensation Court this atternoon in a claim by the Wellington Woollen Manufacturing Company, Ltd., against the Railway Department, of £33y9, for land taken in connection with the widening of the Hutt railway at Petone. The award of the court was unanimous that tho respondent (the Minister for Railways) should forthwith take steps at his own expense to have revested in the claimant the land claimed to be restored to the claimant, and that he pay £1500 in, satisfaction of the claimant's claim.

Jais Excellency Lord Plumtet will attend Mr. Foster Fraser's lecture — "Through Russia in Revolution," at the Town Hall this evening. In 'the report of the case Ridgway v. M'Carthy, appearing on page 6 of this . issue, the decision of the Court is not correctly stated. Judgment was given for plaintiff on the claim for £5, with | £3 lls costs.
