WELLINGTON OPERATIVE BUTCHERS' UNION
The annual meeting of the Wellington Operative Butchers' Union was held in the now office, Beehive Chambers, Courto-nay-place, last evening, and was largely attended. Officers for tho ensuing year were elected as follows:—President, Mr. K. Parkin; vice-president, Mr. J W Dyer; ininuto secretary, Mr. J. Sherwood; treasurer, Mr. W. R. Cole; committee, Messrs. J. C. Hughes, C. M'Carthy, and T. Lewis; auditors, Messrs. E Parkin and J. Dingle,; Trades Council delegates, Messrs. &. Williams, A H Cooper, E. Parkin, and A. M'Avtney. Mr. A. H. Cooper is the permanent secretary. It was decided to hold the annual pknio on tho third Wednesday in November, and a strong committee vis apappointed to make the necessary arrangement*. On the suggestion of tho secretary, it was decided to invito the master butchers to be represented on the committee. A proposal to form a butchers' cricket club was carried, and a large committee was appointed to carry the matter out. A letter was received from the Palmdrston branch expressing appreciatfon mi tho way tha secretary had looked after Iho interests of country members, and expressing the hope that his services would bo available in tho future. A very Buccwsful meeting closed at a late hour.
