COMMERCIAL ACCOUNTANTS.

\ TO THE EDITOR. Sir, — In eacii of the three Wellington daily pnpors thore appeared on Saturday, 2nd instant, a paragraph to tho effect that, at a meeting of commercial accountants held the previous evening it was decided' to nominate as representatives of commercial accountants on the Council of New Zealand Society of Accountants Messrs. P Heycs and T. Forsyth. For "the benefit of those who were not present at that meeting, I would point out (1) that it was by no means unanimous that representatives should be chosen that evening, as a motion to postpone the selecfon until after the date on which nominations were to bo received was only lost on tho casting vote of the chairman ( and (2) following on tliis several of tho gentlemen present did not vote. Thp two gentlemen named do not therefore represent the majority of those present nt the meeting, and commercial accountants will be wise if they refrain from promising their support to any candidates until thoy have had a chance of hearing the views of all of them. The meeting was convened by members of tho Accountant and Auditors' Association , and tho two persons chosen are members of that body. — I am, etc., COMMERCIAL ACCOUNTAN'I . Wellington, 4th October. [Mr. N. Galbraith, who took the chair at tho meeting, says that ho went thero privately, and was voted to it by the mooting. Ho is not a member of either society. It is quite correct, he says, that the proposal to postpone the selection was lost on his casting vote, but he cannot say if it is true that some of those jyrofpnt did not vote. He took the view that if rh» selei'Hon was to be effectivo from the commercial accountants' point of view, it needed to be made at once. Five persons wera nominated, and three of them addressed the meeting I .]
