JOHNSONVILLE TOWN BOARD.
Local affairs wero under the consideration of tho Johnsopville Town Board at their monthly meeting last evening. Mr. J. Rod, chairman, presided. Commissionprs Bould, Mills, Moore, Simeon, and Bowler wore present. It was decided to invite tho Makara County Council,, in consequence of the wandering of stock on the roads, to cooperate with tho board in the erection of a public pound in tho vicinity of Johnsonvillo. The report of tho committee appointed to confer with delegates from various sports bodies with regard to making tho recreation ground suitable for football and kindred games, was made by the chairman. He announced that a surveyor had been asked to take levels and furnish an estimate of the cost of laying-out tho ground. Tho estimate was given at £1100. It was decided to invite the ratepayers to meet and discuss the matter on the 19th instant, as a special loan would be necessary to carry out the work. Delegates of sports bodies, who were present, intimated that the clubs they represented would guarantee £25 or £30 a year towards the payment of interest and sinking fund on a loan.
Accounts amounting to £54- Is 3d wcra passed for payment. Suggestions ad to tho inclusion of the Raroa and Hawtroy Estates and portion* of tho Paparangi Settlement within the Town Board area were discussed in oonh mitteo.
