FEILDING CHAMBER OF COMMERCE.

FBy TBLEGBAPH.-.-SSPEOIAI TO THIS POST.] FEILDJNG, This Day, The annual meeting of the Feilding Chamber of Commerce was held last night, Mr. H. Tolley, president, being in the chair. The following are the chief points in flic annual report : — "Undoubtedly the completion of the Main Trunk line is destined to have far-reaching effects on this district. Whilst Auckland productions have to some extent made' their appearance in our market — notably early fruits and Waikato coal — we, too, have found in the Auckland and Main Trunk districts outlets for many of our productions, with beneficial results to our producers, notably in the case of bacon pigs. Our oat market was relieved by considerable truckings to Auckland. Grass seeds and other products have also found outlets. "In reviewing the year, we regret that we cannot speak of its great prosperity. Prices for farm produce opened at lower levels than for several years, and have met with a dragging sale, and practically no increase m values. There has also been a phenomenal drop in values of frozen meat, which was a serious loss to many farmers. Wool values, however, have revived, and are at present .much better than those obtaining a year ago. Butter, too, has held, and is holding its own, and prospects point to both these productions remaining at remunerative values. We feel it right, however, to compliment the community on the wise manner' in. which the fall in prices has been met.' It speaks volumes for the self-reliant spirit of our people, and for the fertility and productiveness of these districts, when we state that many traders argue that trading accounts are in better order now than they have been for some years. A revival in frozen meat values would undoubtedly result in a further period of prosperity to which this district would immediately respond." The following were elected officeholders: — President, Mr. W. F. Bramwejl; vice-presidents, Messrs. Mostyn, Jones, and H. M'lntyre ; committee, Messrs. H. Tolley, G. Spejice, A. H. Atkinson, R. W. Neal, J. Cobbe, D. Pryde, P. G. Mjles ; honorary auditor, Mr. J. B. Pickering.
