CLAIM DISPUTED BY PEARY. NEW YORK, 11th September. A telegram just received from Commander Peary reads as follows : — "I will prove that Cook never reached the North Pole." The United States Geodetic Survey has offered to arbitrate between the rival claims of tho two explorers. DEPARTURE FROM COPENHAGEN. WITH EVERY MARK OF HONOUR. COPENHAGEN, 11th September. An enthusiastic farewell was accorded to Dr. F. A. Cook/" when he sailed direct for New York yesterday. All the shipping in the harbour was dressed' with flags for the occasion.
