LACROSSE.
j CHAMPIONSHIP FINAL. At the Basin Keseyve on Saturday afternoon the hitherto unbeaten Capitol Club met and defeated the recently-formed Kelburne Club, which had come through the season \vith only one previous defeat, i.e., by Capitols, in the first round of the championship fixtures. A good exhibition of the game was given by both teams, thera being at intervals during the game some fine passing bouts. ' The first spell was all in favour of the Kelburnes, who by accurate passing and good play notched three goals, the scorers being Meyer (2) and Loughnan (1). In the second quarter Capitols asserted themselves to some purpose, and equalised the scores, the successful throwers being Montgomery, Rankin, and Schftlenberg. The third quarter was very keenly contested, each team attacking ajid defending in turn, UAt.il towards tjie dose of £he quarter a determined attack by Capitols ended in Pledger finding the net. On changing over for the last time the scoresheet read — Capitol 4, Kelburne 3. Each team strove hard to increase its scoro, and after some ten minutes' play Montgomery was again successful in scoring. Kelburne now played hard' to avert defeat, and encouragement was given to thoir efforts by a further goal being notched by Loughnan. Shortly after tima was called, ' the scores being — Capitol 5, Kelburne 4. Capitols thus won the season's championship, 1 with Kelburne in a very creditable position as runners-up. For the winners Jantke, A. and W. Montgomery, Rankin, Pledger, and King played well, I and for Kelburne Meyer, Webb, Courtney, Proud, and Loughnan. Mr. J. H. Robinson was' an efficient referee.
