THE MONEY MARKET.
The Bank of liugland rate of discount is now at 2£ per cent., to whioh rate it was reduced trom 3 per cent, on April Ist. Tho open market rate of discount for tho boat three months' bills is i higher, at 1£ per cent. Bhort loans aro unchanged, at 2 per cent. .... Tne market rate in Paris is 4 higher, at li per cont., while in Berlin it is unchanged, at 2^ per cent. GRAIN AND FLOUR.
Wheat.— The markets are quiet and inactive, and although sellers are willing to meet buyers, the latter aro looking for lower prices when new supplies arrive in quantity. Cargoes are dull of sale. Australian afloat is quoted at 41s to 41s 6d per quarter, September shipment 41s, new crop Deoeinber-0 anuary steamer and sailer shipment 37s 6d. Australian on spot is also dull, at 43s od, Now Zealand long berry 38s 6d to 40s, short borry 38s to 39s bd. The American visible supply of wheat and flour cast of the Rockies is equivalent to 17,526,000 bushels. Flour. — A poor demand exists. Australian patent brands are scarce, and are quoted in London at 32s to 32s 6d pcl 1 saok, and in Glasgow at 32s 6d. Oats. — Market quiet. Gartons and Sparrowbills are quoted i\i 25s 6d to 26s per quarter, La Plata afloat 14s lOjd, COLONIAL AND OTHER PRODUCE.
Tho butter market is firm. Danish is quoted at 118s to 120s per owt, and a few of tho best brands', of colonial butter are soiling at from 104s to 112s. Tho outlook is promising. ? German beet. 88 per cent., is quoted at 11s lOd (a rise of 3d), and first marks granulated at 13s 9d (tho same as last week) per owt., f.0.b., Hamburg. BRADFORD WOOL* MARKET. Tho market for tops is firm, an& prices remain unchanged.
PRICES OF METALS. Copper. — On the spot, 7s 6d lower, at 3G59 per ton; three months, 7s 6d lower, at £59 17s 6d. , Tin. — On tho spot, 20s lower, at iloo 5s per ton; threo months, 12s 6d lower, at £137 12s 6d. Lead, £12 13s 9d per ton. Spelter, £22 15s per" ton. Pig-iron, 3£d lower, at 51s l£d per ton.
