GLENGOWRIE is a brown horse, 16 hands, showing great promise as a eire, is a full brother to Lass o' Gowrie, a winner of matoy races, and Lycia, and Salute, the latter being one of the best fillies racing last season Ho is a grandson of the great Sti Simon. Lady Musket, having met with an accident when a youngster, went to the stud -untried. She is a handsome mare, and all her stock are splendid gallopers. GLENGOWRIE' S brother was the highest-pric-ed yearling at the Auckland sales last year, he bringing 500 guineas. GLENGOWRIE will serve a limited number of mares at a fee of 5 guineas. The conditions se^. down for the King's Cup Life Saving Competition, which took place at Highgate Ponds, London, were as follow :—ln: — In the first portion of the contest each competitor, fully attired in a suit of clothes and boots, must swim 440 yds, and at the fttst 40vds he is required to rescue a supposed "Qrowning person and carry him upon the surface of the water to safety.
