WELLINGTON BOYS' INSTITUTE.
The basket ball tournament between teams from the various departments was continued last night. Cadets (5) beat Gymnasium C (4). Ambulance B (17) beat Gymnasium A (4). Religious Committee (26) beat Gymnasium B (2). The Religious Committee are now leading for th« championship. Enthusiastic in sports, they are as keenly interested in the work of their department. The Bible study course on the "Life of Christ," which has been running for sixteen weeks, was concluded last Monday. Next Monday, examinations will be held. The average attendance at classes during the length of the course was nearly thirty per week). On 20t!h September the classes, which heretofore have consisted of football and gymnasium teams, will be reorganised from the cricket teams and swimming clubs. The classes will take up the lives of two men, studying one one week, the other the next, and comparing the two In the third week. The following week a debate as to who is the greater man will be given by representatives of each class, and a general discussion will take place by all the members
A semi-secret society, to be known as the K.0.T.5., is to be organised from among the Bible class members, the objective being the development of the spiritual, physical, mental, and social life of the members.
The ordinary general meeting of the shareholders of the South British Insurance Company, Ltd., will be held at the head office in Auckland on Thursday, 14th October" Messrs T. Peacock and C. W. M'Dowell, retiring directors, and Messrs. G. S. Kissling and W. B. A. Morrison, retiring auditors, offer themselves for re-election.
