MAORILAND MINE REPORT.
[BS TELEGBAPH — SPECIAL TO THE POST.] WAIHI, This Day.' The manager of the Maoriland mine (Waitekauri), reporting on the 9th inst., says :— "As my wire informed you, goldbearing stone was met with in the rise at a height of 56 feet above the back of the level. The ore body that we are rising upon is over four .feet in width, and the main gold-bearing portion I am getting the gold from, is at present nine inches in width, with every appearance of making wider.. The stone is the best that I have got in the mine, and the gold is very strong in both classes of stone (the brown and mineralised ore)." Samples of the stone referred to in the mine manager's report were to be seen at the office of the secretary (Waihi) yesterday,- and show gold freely. As stated, the quartz looks considerably better than any stone obtained since the present company resumed mining operations on the property.
